Opportunity Moves!
For the first time in well over two months, Oppy has moved. It's just little move, but it's a good move. After they've checked out the cross-bedding around here, perhaps Opportunity's epic voyage across Meridiani will continue.
Spirit Sol 727
Spirit appears to be moving to higher ground to get around the drifts. "Home Plate" is visible again from this position; here is an anaglyph of the closest view yet. More images at the Flickr photo stream.

Checking out the Light Stuff
It's confirmed that Spirit will be checking out the bright soil that's been exposed (see speculation below). See the new Jan. 13 Mission Update by Steve Squyres.

Version 1.4.2
Midnight Mars Browser Version 1.4.2 changes the metadata download method to make it easier for me to post metadata updates. This should result in more frequent, timely metadata updates.
NOTE: This version is required in order to continue receiving metadata updates. New metadata updates won't be downloaded until you update to this version.
Sorry to break the older versions, but it's necessary to make my job easier. Updating to the new version should be easy, and, of course, it's free.

Spirit Sol 713-714 Updated
The Sol 713-714 Navcam pan has been updated with this lovely view back towards "El Dorado". There's also an even better wide version of this view on the Flickr site (just click the image to go there).
To make this site more useful, I'm going to try updating this site when I do metadata updates, like this one.
I'm working on a new version of MMB (1.4.2) that will make it easier for me to post metadata updates. I might also put in a feature that will automatically bring up a web browser and show this site when there is an update. So it all ties together, maybe.

Version 1.4.1
Midnight Mars Browser 1.4.1 adds a "Auto Update Minute" setting in the Preferences dialog so that you can control on which minute of the hour auto-updates will start. The default setting is 40 since Exporatorium is now updating at 35 minutes after the hour, apparantly.
