Opportunity Sol 742 - "Payson" In View
Good news: Exploratorium appears to be working again, at least for the moment, so we get to see the up-to-the-minute latest Mars Rover images again. Such as the above.
Other news: I think I'm going to just post images to the Flickr site for awhile, to save myself some time.
Other good news: Midnight Mars Browser 1.4.4 is posted; see below.
Version 1.4.4
Midnight Mars Browser version 1.4.4 has been posted. Here's what's new:
Download the latest version of Midnight Mars Browser
- In Panorama mode, the new "Edit -> Select Command Sequence Images" menu option selects the closest image to center and all other images in the panorama with the same command sequence code. Once an image or images are selected, they can be hid using the new "Navigate -> Hide Selected Images" menu option (to reveal any images behind). All images can be shown again using the "Navigate -> Show All Images" menu option.
- Improved image quality in Panorama mode at certain magnifications (smoother scaling, fewer "jaggies").
- Added an "Update Panorama Images from JPL" menu option to the Update menu.
- Fixed Panorama selection dialog to show pans in order by sol (since site/drive code isn't completely reliable).
- Panorama screenshots show view azimuth, elevation and field of view at bottom.
- Miscellaneous other fixes.

Version 1.4.3
Midnight Mars Browser 1.4.3 fixes some bugs, including a file handle leak that could cause problems when viewing many panoramas or images in sequence. Also the delete images option now properly deletes thumbnails.

All Pan Metadata Updated
Generating Pans from the Pancam Tracking Database
I'm working on generating MMB pans using data from the Pancam Tracking Database. This will allow all the panoramas to be viewed ground-relative (rover tilt accounted for, with zero degrees facing north), and also I hope it will save me a lot of work generating panoramas by hand. The view above is from the Erebus Pan, generated from Pancam Tracking data - the main difference from the created-by-hand version is that the frames showing the rover have been filled in, which would have been far too much work for me to do by hand.

Spirit Sol 746-748 Panorama Updated
False color of "Gibson" coming in. James Canvin has a much better version of this partial mosaic at his site.
Also, Opportunity moved to a new target, but still hasn't done a long drive. That may be coming soon, though... something to look out for.

Spirit Sol 744 Panorama Updated
Spirit Sol 742-743 - Direction Update
90-degree view facing South on Spirit Sol 742-732. "Home Plate" is at center, McCool Hill at left. I've updated the direction of the Sol 742-743 pan based on the JPL maps. North should now be North, to within perhaps 10 degrees or so. I was considerably off before. I'll go back and correct some of the earlier pans, later. Views facing North, East and West are also posted on the Flickr site.

Spirit Sol 738-739 Panorama Updated
Some new Navcam images from Sol 738-739 show the full extent of El Dorado (at least the top part of it) on Husband Hill.
Also, the first Navcam image of Home Plate from Spirit's new position has come down - not enough to make a panorama yet, but interesting. I guess we are still further away than I thought, but the Pancam images should be spectacular if they come down.
